Ofego’s ‘D Girls Dem Daddy’ clinches album of the year at NAMA 2025

Nigerian music star Ofego has emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 2025 Notable Africa Music Awards (NAMA), as his latest project, D Girls Dem Daddy, clinched the coveted Album of the Year award at the ceremony held on December 13, 2025, in Lagos.

The victory further cements Ofego’s growing influence on the African music scene, coming on the heels of his impressive outing at the 2024 NAMA held in Accra, Ghana, where he won Songwriter of the Year and West Africa Artiste of the Year. At this year’s edition, the artiste continued his winning streak, also bagging the Songwriter of the Year award, while the official music video for Girls Dem Daddy, directed by Madumike, was named Music Video of the Year.

Speaking after receiving the Album of the Year award, an elated Ofego said, “This album is a reflection of my journey, my sound and the love my fans have shown me across the world. Winning Album of the Year in Lagos means a lot to me, and I dedicate this to everyone who streamed, shared and believed in the music.”

D Girls Dem Daddy has been widely hailed as Ofego’s strongest body of work to date, surpassing the success of his previous project, Banku Bounce. The album boasts 31 carefully crafted Banku-inspired tracks and recorded thousands of streams within its first day of release, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

Beyond Nigeria, the album has enjoyed remarkable reception in Europe and Asia, underscoring Ofego’s growing global appeal and reinforcing his status as one of Africa’s most consistent and dynamic music exports.
